Pop-Art Ronald Reagan "BAM!" SIlk-Screened Print
$22.50 On sale
Not a political statement, but rather an itch scratched. I always loved Andy Warhol’s off-color, off-registration silk screened portraits as well as Roy Lichtenstein’s use of comic book dialogue bubbles and text. So, seeing how most of my art is informed by having lived through the 80s anyhow, I chose this particular icon. This piece also got me back to the pre-digital use of photocopiers to create my base image, much like the punk rock show fliers I used to collect.
This print is completely open to interpretation. Pro-Reagan, anti-Reagan, pro-Pop Art, pro-Dada or absolutely nothing at all. Personally it just spoke to the visual vibe I was going for with no larger agenda. Heck, Warhol did portraits of Chairman Mao as well as Jimmy Carter, and in the end they were just commissioned portraits. I am not one to broadcast my political views publicly, so rest assured that this piece doesn't do that either. Folks from either side of the aisle are all encouraged to buy these suckers up!
As always, my printed posters are taken from my own original collage works. I silk screen them by hand, which is time consuming but also way-the-hell punk. The small inconsistencies in the printing assure you that these weren't churned out on some stinkin' laser printer.
This print was silkscreened by hand onto 100lb poster paper with vibrant high-quality Speedball poster inks. No two exactly alike, but all are beautiful. Limited signed edition of only 10 pieces. Paper size: 11" x 14", which fits standard frames found at your local craft store, frame shop or IKEA! (frame NOT included)
